Fields of Study for higher education
Vavilov University offers a wide range of educational programs, from secondary vocational education to higher education training. In 2026, 120 higher education programmes and 1,614 state-funded places are available to applicants.
Bachelor's degree and specialty
This is the first level of higher education. Bachelor's degree (4 years) and Specialist's degree (5-6 years) programmes provide fundamental training in the chosen field.

• Genetics
• Biotechnology
• Veterinary Medicine
• Landscape architecture
• Applied Computer Science (IT)
• Engineering specialties (Agroengineering, Agricultural Mechanization)
• Economic specialties (Economics, Management)
In order to enroll in bachelor's and specialist's degree programmes, you must have a general secondary education or secondary vocational education.
Magistracy
The Master's degree (2 years) is the second level of higher education designed for in-depth study of professional disciplines and research work.
A bachelor's or specialist's degree is required for admission to the Master's program. The training is conducted in the same priority areas as in the bachelor's degree, but with an emphasis on scientific research and managerial competencies.
Postgraduate study
Postgraduate study is the third level of higher education, a programme for training scientific and pedagogical personnel. The term of study is 4 years (full-time).
Scientific specialties:
• 1.5.6 — Biotechnology (within the Biological Sciences group)
In graduate school, you not only deepen your knowledge, but also conduct independent scientific work under the guidance of experienced mentors, prepare an academic dissertation (thesis) for the degree of Candidate of sciences (PhD).
Secondary vocational education (SPE)
SPE is implemented at the College of Finance and Technology and three branches of the university (in the towns of Krasny Kut, Marx, Pugachev).
Vocational education and training programs are focused on the practical training of mid-level specialists. Admission is based on applications from students with basic general or secondary general education. Foreign citizens can enroll both in state-funded (within the quota) and paid places.
