Vavilov University and Hebei Agricultural University expand cooperation

Today, July 16, 2026, on the 25th anniversary of the signing of the founding Treaty on Good Neighborliness, Friendship and Cooperation between the Russian Federation and the People's Republic of China, the leading agricultural universities of the two countries have laid the foundation for partnership. On this landmark day, Dmitry Solovyov, Rector of Saratov State University of Genetics, Biotechnology and Engineering named after N.I. Vavilov, and Zhao Jianjun, Rector of Hebei Agricultural University, held a working meeting.

The talks were held in a videoconference format with the support of Andrei Denisov, a member of the Federation Council from the executive authority of the Saratov Region, First Deputy Chairman of the International Affairs Committee, and Vladimir Ruchin, Chairman of the Saratov regional branch of the Interregional Public Organization Society of Russian-Chinese Friendship.

 "Today's talks with colleagues from Hebei Agricultural University are an important step in strengthening our international cooperation. We see great potential in combining the Russian fundamental school of agronomy and advanced Chinese technologies in the agro-industrial complex. I am confident that the synergy of our scientific schools will bring the training of personnel for agriculture to a qualitatively new level, and joint research will make a significant contribution to ensuring food security and sustainable economic development of the Russian Federation and the People's Republic of China," said Dmitry Solovyov, Rector of Vavilov University.

"We know that Vavilov University has achieved significant success in the field of genetics and biotechnology. These areas will ideally complement our competencies. In this regard, we propose to establish a partnership to work together on projects in the field of modern agrobiotechnology. I am sure that such cooperation will be mutually beneficial and prestigious for both sides. Today's meeting will be the beginning of our cooperation. We hope for further fruitful cooperation," said Zhao Jianjun, Rector of Hebei Agricultural University.

 Holding the meeting today is deeply symbolic. It marks the start of practical cooperation within the framework of the Cross-years of Russian-Chinese cooperation in the field of education for 2026-2027.
